Salem

— A suspicious person was reported in the 400 block of Stewart Road at 10:41 a.m. Thursday. While officers were checking the area, the caller determined that the person in question was a resident at a neighboring home and advised that everything was fine.

— A neighbor dispute was reported in the 200 block of East Fourth Street at 10:34 a.m. Thursday. The caller advised that the neighbors in their apartment complex had been moving property around on their shared porch. Officers spoke with the neighbors, who denied touching the property. The caller was advised to speak with the landlord of the building about the issue.

— A hit and skip was reported in the 200 block of East State Street at 8:48 a.m. Thursday. A legally parked vehicle was struck by an unknown vehicle and documented the damage with photographs.

— Officers on patrol in the 2300 block of East State Street located a person dumpster diving at 3:31 a.m. Thursday. Officers advised them that they didn’t want anyone back there and advised them to leave.

— Suspicious activity was reported in the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue at 2:30 a.m. Thursday. The caller advised that their motion detector went off and her cameras were not working. Officers were unable to locate anything in the area.

— A suspicious vehicle was reported driving in circles in a parking lot in the 1200 block of East Sixth Street at 12:31 a.m. Thursday. Officers spoke with the driver, and she advised that she was practicing driving.

— Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on East State Street near South Broadway Avenue at 12:17 a.m. Thursday. Officers conducted standard field sobriety tests on the driver and found them to show minimal signs of impairment. As a precaution, the vehicle was parked for the driver to retrieve in the morning, and they were given a ride back to their residence.

— Officers checked on a juvenile that allegedly intended to harm themselves in the 200 block of North Howard Avenue at 9:37 p.m. Wednesday. Officers located the juvenile and the fire department and EMT responded to the location. The juvenile denied wanting to harm himself, and his father responded and signed a refusal for treatment.

— An assault between juveniles was reported in the 1200 block of East Fourth Street at 9:31 p.m. Wednesday. Officers gathered information and will forward it to the juvenile officer for review.

— A suspicious person was reported lying on the ground beneath a car in the 700 block of West Wilson Street at 7:19 p.m. Wednesday. Nothing was reported wrong with the vehicle, and nothing appeared to be out of place or stolen. The matter is under investigation.

— A domestic in progress was reported in the 100 block of West Eighth Street at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday. Officers spoke with both parties and were advised that one party had punched the other in the face, pushed him to the ground, and spit on him. The other party, whose name was not listed, was taken into custody and transported to the Louis Tobin Attention Center.

— Officers assisted the Perry Township Police Department in the 600 block of East Third Street at 4:49 p.m. Wednesday. Officers were unable to contact the person in question.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 4:35 p.m. Wednesday at 4:35 p.m. Wednesday for a report of phone harassment. The person advised a former coworker was accusing them of contacting them with fake phone numbers and had threatened them when they advised them that they were not the person contacting them.

— A domestic in progress was reported between a man and woman at 2:42 p.m. Wednesday. No physical violence was reported and a man who had made comments of possible self-harm was transported to a medical facility for further evaluation. The female half was subsequently trespassed from the residence the incident occurred at.

— A dispute where a man allegedly shoved a woman to the ground was reported in the 400 block of East Euclid Street at 11:37 a.m. Wednesday. Officers spoke with both parties and were advised that the male half had been attempting to leave following an argument and the female half had been standing at his car door so he could not pull away. At some point he had opened his door to get her to move away so he could leave, and she had fallen to the ground. Officers explained the laws for physical violence.

Sheriff’s Office

— A man on Brown Street, Center Township, reported at 7:46 p.m. Wednesday that his ex-girlfriend from East Liverpool won’t stop contacting him by phone. A deputy spoke with her by phone and she was advised to have no contact with the man.

— A woman on state Route 518, Franklin Township, reported at 7:29 p.m. Wednesday that her ex-boyfriend from Austintown keeps driving by her residence very slowly.

— Deputies were dispatched at 12:18 a.m. Saturday to Hartley Road, Knox Township for a domestic violence report. Refusals were signed by all parties involved.

Highway Patrol

— No citation was listed on the report for a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of state Route 45 and Teegarden Road in Salem Township at 12:50 a.m. June 3. An eastbound pickup on Teegarden Road driven by Gabriel T. Hafner, 22, Minerva, failed to stop at the stop sign and struck a southbound car on state Route 45 driven by Donna A. Shiderly, 39, Elkton Road, Lisbon, in the intersection. The Shiderly vehicle continued south and struck the guardrail three times then came to final rest while the Hafner pickup continued east and struck a guardrail. Hafner and his passenger, Melina Shanahan, 19, Minerva, both suffered suspected serious injuries and were each flown by Stat MedEvac to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown. Shiderly suffered suspected serious injuries and her passenger, Mayson Cassell, 32, West Drury Lane, East Liverpool suffered suspected minor injuries, with both transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown by Leetonia EMS.

— Dawn Gotschall, 38, Lewis Road, Salineville, was cited for reasonable control after her southbound vehicle traveled off of the right side of state Route 644 and struck a guardrail, then continued south and traveled off the left side of the road at 10:42 p.m. June 2 in Summitville. No injuries were reported.

— Johnathan M. Simpson, 21, Lisbon Street, Leetonia, suffered a suspected serious injury and was transported by Leetonia Fire/EMS to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown after his westbound vehicle on Butcher Road ran a stop sign at Lisbon Road, traveled off of the road and struck a traffic sign at 8:36 p.m. June 2 in Salem Township. Simpson was cited for reasonable control and operating a vehicle impaired.
