Salem

— Suspicious activity was reported in the 1000 block of Homewood Avenue at 2:14 p.m. Thursday. Officers checked the area but did not find anyone suspicious in the area or at the property.

— A suspicious person was reported in the 900 block of Newgarden Avenue at 2:01 p.m. Thursday. Officers checked the area and found nothing suspicious.

— Officers conducted a wellness check on a woman who was highly intoxicated and her children in the 200 block of Ohio Avenue at 1:19 p.m. Thursday. The caller, who was a family member, already had two of the children at her residence but was concerned about the well-being of the third. Officers confirmed that the woman was passed out upstairs but showed no signs of alcohol poisoning and Columbiana County Children Protective Services were contacted and opened a case to initiate a safety plan for the children. The caller was contacted by children services and began making arrangements to take the child to their home.

— Officers checked on a person reported sitting on the ground behind a carport in the area of East Pershing Street at 11:59 a.m. Thursday. Officers located the person walking a short distance away, and they advised that they had just been resting while waiting for a family member to return home.

— A person to be removed was reported in the 500 block of Aetna Street at 11:36 a.m. Thursday. Officers spoke with one party, advising them they were no longer welcome at the residence and needed to gather their belongings and leave. They advised they had people coming to the house to pick them up that were on their way, and the caller agreed to leave the house while the person gathered their items and waited for their ride to arrive.

— Officers spoke with a person about issues with an ex-spouse at the police department at 11:29 a.m. Thursday. Officers advised them of their options.

— A civil dispute over a fence falling onto the caller’s property from an adjacent plaza was reported at 10:38 a.m. Thursday. Officers advised them that they would have to contact the owner of the plaza about the fence.

Sheriff’s Office

— A deputy was dispatched at 9:06 p.m. Thursday to Ag-Pro, U.S. Route 62, Knox Township, for a video alarm of a semi truck backing up to the building. The deputy spoke with the driver, who had paperwork for a delivery in the morning.

— The Counseling Center called at 7:28 p.m. Thursday to request a welfare check on a person on Spillway Road, Hanover Township, who was having suicidal thoughts. A deputy spoke with the person, who said they were fine.

— Suspicious activity was reported at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday in the 40000 block of Morris Road, Elkrun Township, where deputies responded and learned from the caller that he saw someone walking his property with a flashlight. Deputies checked the immediate and surrounding areas and didn’t find anyone.

Highway Patrol

— Jacob D. Jones, 30, Hubbard, was cited for reasonable control after his westbound vehicle on state Route 172 in Center Township traveled off of the right side of the road and struck a guardrail at 5:55 a.m. Wednesday, June 10. No injury was reported.

— Charles E. Beverly, 45, Canton, was cited for traffic control devices after his eastbound truck on Georgetown Road, Knox Township, just past Homeworth Road, struck an overhead bridge at 12:54 p.m. Monday, June 8. No injury was reported.
