LEXINGTON, Ky. – Dr. Robert Jack Eardley, 84, died Tuesday following a recent illness.
Dr. Eardley was born Nov. 29, 1930, in East Liverpool, a son of the late Frederick Earl Eardley and the late Ethel (Crawford) Eardley.
Following high school, Dr. Eardley attended Kent State University before entering the United States Army and serving honorably in Germany. After his discharge, Dr. Eardley completed his education and medical training at the University of Arkansas and at the Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas. In his career, he served as Medical Director for the Arkansas Department of Corrections and later as Chief of Psychiatry for the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons. Dr. Eardley was also an active member of the U.S. Army Reserves and rose to the rank of Colonel.
Following his retirement from government service, Dr. Eardley practiced medicine in Lexington, Kentucky, at Medical Practice Management and Associates.
He is survived by his children, Robert, Elizabeth, Keith, and Julie; and eight grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until noon Monday at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home in Lisbon. No funeral services will be held at the funeral home. Graveside services and burial with full military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, at the Chapel in Riverview Cemetery in East Liverpool, Ohio.
