Charles Edwin Sheen

COLUMBIANA -- Charles Edwin Sheen, 86, of Columbiana, died Sept. 13, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Hospital/Mercy Health, Boardman.

He was born June 29, 1935, in Green Township, Mahoning County, the son of Charles and Nellie (Wilms) Sheen.

Charlie lived his entire life in Mahoning County. The first 49 years were on the family farm on Beaver Creek and Middletown roads. He was born there and operated the dairy farm until moving to Columbiana. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served for two years. Charlie retired in September 2013 from Baird Brothers, where he had worked for many years. He was an active church member of the Columbiana Church of Christ. He had served as their treasurer for 25 years and stepped down in 2008. Charlie was not one to got out and about, he stayed around the house, working on things, gardening and cutting the grass.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lois E. (Graham) Sheen, whom he married July 26, 1969; a daughter, Marie Elnora Sheen of Salem, and a son, Donald Edwin Sheen of the Philippines; and a sister, Hazel Nickolas of Youngstown.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Esther Wilson, Ruth Schmidt, Iona Cloyd, Blanche Dudley, Margaret Delp, George, Donald, Paul and Carl Sheen.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021. The military honors will be first, then followed by the Rev. Gary Bailey officiating at the Columbiana Church of Christ. A time of visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. The burial will take place in Hope Cemetery in Salem.
