Luciano ‘Louis’ Grande

SALEM — Luciano “Louis” Grande, 87, of Salem died Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 22, 2022, at Altercare of Alliance.

He was born on Sept. 25, 1934, in Monteleone, DiPuglia, Italy, the son of the late Giuseppe “Joseph” and Maria Vittoria (Morra) Grande.

He and the family were born in the old country and then migrated over. He was a welder by trade and worked at Turner Machine (Electric Furnace), NRM, and EW Bliss. In addition to his work, he was a farmer and loved every bit of it. Louis loved his family and always looked forward to spending time with the grandchildren. The big auctions and farm sales were always a big hit for places to go. There were also day trips to Amish country for bargain hunting, antiques and good food. There were many evenings you could find him settling down to watch an old western, wrestling matches or listening to classical music. Louis was also a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Salem.

He is survived by his children, Toni Toth of Salem, Joseph (Janet) Grande of Pataskala and Louis Grande of Florida; and his sister Antonietta Salvino of Alliance, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Emma (Sefner) Grande on April 25, 2021, and siblings Roccantonio Grande, Filomena Labriola and Leonardo Grande.

Services will be held on Monday, Feb. 28, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. The Rev. Fr. Robert Edwards of St. Paul’s Catholic Church will be officiating. The burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday.
