Mary Lou Kirsch

In loving memory of Mary Lou Kirsch

December 6, 1952 – February 17, 2022

Mary Lou passed away on Thursday at home, surrounded by her loving husband and daughter.

Mary Lou was born in Salem, Ohio on Dec. 6, 1952 and was the youngest child born to Albert and Margaret Luxeuil DeWan. She was raised in a loving household with her brother, Jack and her sisters, Joyce and Joan. Mary Lou graduated from Salem High School in 1971 and spent her professional career as a medical secretary and office manager. She was a devoted single mother to Valerie (Stone) Regan and a brave cancer survivor. Although she lived with many permanent side effects from her cancer treatments, she never stopped fighting, and lived life to the fullest.

After her daughter entered college, Mary Lou married the love of her life, Terry Kirsch on Feb. 7, 1998. She spent the remainder of her years as a devoted wife of a minister and doting grandma “Nini.” Mary Lou loved her grandchildren, and made many memories with them in Toledo, Ohio and later in Sarasota, Florida. While she was able, there were wonderful times poolside and at the beach enjoying the sand, the waves and the beautiful sunsets. Her Lord and Savior were ever present in many small miracles Mary Lou enjoyed throughout her lifetime.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jack DeWan; her sister, Joyce DeWan Tetlow and her granddaughter, Molly Margaret Regan. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Terry Kirsch, her daughter, Valerie; son-in-law, Patrick; grandsons, Brayden and Ryan Regan and sister, Joan Borton and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Her family wishes to thank her wonderful caregivers at Community Hospice. In lieu of services, we ask any donations to be made to them at 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663. Please visit www.oakmeadowcremation.com to send condolences to the family.
