1932-2023 and 1933-2020
Clarence and Joan were recently reunited in the Lord's house. Clarence was born on Sept. 23, 1932 to Charles and Hazel (Hoover) Kerstetter. Joan was born on Jan. 4, 1933 to Henry and Helen (Dublinsky) Engle. Both Clarence and Joan were born in Shamokin, Pa. Clarence cared for his beloved Joan for years as her body weakened until she passed away on Oct. 26, 2020. Clarence passed away on June 3, 2023.
After completing his MBA at The Wharton School of Business, Clarence joined a small firm, Robert Morris Associates (RMA), a risk management association, in 1958. Thus began a 37 year career during which Clarence helped RMA grow as an international association. Under Clarence's leadership, RMA began it's annual RMA Statement Studies. Clarence was an active member of Rotary International of Philadelphia, the Union League, and the Exchequer Club in Washington, DC, serving as Chancellor from 1984-1985.
Joan was a very talented needleworker, sewing clothes, knitting and crocheting afghans, and creating beautiful pieces of cross stitch.
Clarence and Joan were active members of the Paoli Presbyterian Church. Because of their many trips to Salem, Clarence and Joan had an additional church family at First Presbyterian Church of Salem.
Clarence truly enjoyed meeting people and, especially, dogs. Clarence was a truly caring and kind person. Every person he met was a person to be respected and cared about. He lived his life "loving his neighbor as himself." This includes the many friends he made in Salem.
Family was truly important to Clarence and Joan. They would often try to attend the activities of Sarah and Andrew, their grandchildren, in Salem. Clarence, even after Joan was homebound, would travel to Salem to attend concerts for them or Sue. He prioritized attending the special musical offerings of the Haviland Choir at First Presbyterian Church of Salem.
Clarence and Joan leave to cherish their memory their daughters, Dr. Ann E Reed (Dr. John Braun), Ellicott City, Md., Sue Engle Reed Skiba (Joe), Salem, Ohio; granddaughter Sarah A. Skiba, Durham, N.C.; grandson Andrew Reed Skiba (Marianna), North Canton, Ohio; great-grandson Andrew Jacob "AJ" Skiba; and his beloved grand-ChiChi, Rowdy, the sharer of the blue chair.
A private celebration of life service was held at the Paoli Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden on June 14, with the Rev. Dr. William Hess officiating.
