Beautiful, smart, and sassy Marci Smith King of Ladson, SC, formerly of Salem, Ohio passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 23, 2023 at 4:54 a.m. with her family by her side. Marci battled breast and bone cancer for several years. This never stopped her from living her life to the fullest.
She was born to Shirley Brautigam of Port Orange, Fla. and Glenn "Hooker" Smith of Leetonia, Ohio on July 31, 1963. Marci graduated from Salem High School in 1981.
She is survived by her two children, Tyler Ugran (Logan Ugran) of Summerville, SC and Taylor Ugran (Fabricio Afonso) of Hanahan, SC; five grandchildren: Grace Ugran, McKinley Ugran, Geno Afonso, Mateo Afonso, and Brianna Afonso. Marci is also survived by her mother Shirley Brautigam, Father Glenn "Hooker" Smith, and sister Terri Smith Payne, her husband Gary Payne Sr., and her nephews G. Phillip Payne Jr., Garrett T. Payne. She is also survived by her two dogs Sophie and Stella.
As per Marci's request, there will be no funeral or calling hours. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Salem Alumni Association of Salem, Ohio or Hospice.
