Marcia A. Equizi
1929-2023
Marcia A. Equizi passed away peacefully on July 10, 2023 at the home of her daughter, Ellen Hughes, in Sarasota, Florida at the age of 93.
She was born on Sept. 20, 1929 in Logan, Ohio. Marcia was the daughter of the late John E. and Marie C. Eberst. Marcia graduated from Logan High School in 1947.
Marcia and her husband George met while attending Ohio University. They were married for 73 years. Marcia raised their four children Mark, Ellen, George and Gregory in Salem and then worked for Salem City Schools.
Marcia and George relocated to Florida in 1980. They lived in Tampa, Lakeland and finally in Sarasota near their daughter Ellen. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Walgreens in Tampa and then volunteered in pediatrics for 19 years at Lakeland Memorial Hospital. They really enjoyed their retirement years in Lakeland while living at Cypress Lakes Village with a large group of friends and many visits from their children and grandkids. Marcia loved baking for the grandchildren. No matter where they lived she always grew a large assortment of flowers and thoroughly enjoyed taking care of them.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John N. Eberst. Marcia is survived by her sister Mary of Lancaster, Ohio and by four children, Mark (Patricia Keefer) of Salem, Ohio, Ellen Hughes of Sarasota, Fla., Gregory (Jill) of High Springs, Fla., and George (Amy) of Tampa, Fla. She is also survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services for Marcia and George who passed away in April, 2023 will be held at a later date. Contributions may be made to the St. Paul School Foundation at 925 E. State St., Salem, Ohio 44460.
