Elizabeth (Betty) Lepley of Brookdale Senior Living in Birmingham, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 22.
Betty was born to Harold and Gertrude Smith Oct. 31, 1930 in Coral Gables, Florida. She graduated from Meadville High School in Pennsylvania and from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Education. She enjoyed teaching school for 27 years.
Betty married her high school sweetheart, Don, Dec. 28, 1950. After retirement, Betty and Don moved to Tellico Village in Loudon, Tennessee, from their home in Salem, Ohio, where they lived for 28 years.
Betty is proceeded in death by her husband of 56 years, Don. She is survived by her children, Debi King (Allan), Robert Lepley (Kim) and Todd Lepley (Lara), as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty enjoyed golfing, boating, walking the trails of the Smokey Mountains, time at the beach, traveling, needlework, reading, volunteer work and time spent with friends and family.
Her family will gather for a private memorial service to celebrate her life at a later date when her ashes will be placed with Don's in Tellico Village, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Betty's home church in Tellico Village at tellicochurch.com.
