An incredible and beautiful light went out Monday, Oct. 16, 2023 when Kay Oster of Marion, Ohio went home to be with her Lord after a brief illness. She was preceded on her journey by her mother and father, Pauline and Don Sisson, and a brother, Alan. Those who will follow in her footsteps are her husband of 37 years, John Oster; sister Nina Haile-Mariam and husband Ayu; son Darrell Walton; and stepson John D. Oster, along with stepdaughters Tracie Anderson and Mary Boumeester.
Just some of Kay's many interests included Falconry, which she practiced for over 20 years, traveling to, from and all over Alaska and the lower 48 with John and others, collecting antiques, shopping for bargains and learning to be a fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes. And this last one was quite a feat for someone who spent the first 14 years of her life as the daughter of a Purdue University professor, and who was the wife of a man who attended Indiana University.
Arrangements for a memorial service will be made in the not-too-distant future in Salem, Ohio, where she resided for 18 years. Friends and relatives will be notified of this event.
Kay and John ask that expressions of sympathy, such as flowers or donations to a charity, be retained by you and used to treat your spouse or significant other to a nice meal at your favorite restaurant; and that you pause for just a moment to remember and honor the shining life and times of a truly remarkable lady.
Snyder Funeral Homes of Marion are honored to serve Kay's family and online condolence may be expressed by visiting www.SnyderFuneralHomes.com.
