Perina "Nina" Stella Hupp, 77, of Salem passed away Oct. 26, 2023 following a brave battle with ALS. Daughter of Roland and Stella Woods, she was born May 28, 1946, in Wokingham, England.
Nina's focus was always her children, and she selflessly chose to stay at home to care for them. Married to Bill Hupp on Sept. 20, 1969, in England, they moved to Ohio shortly thereafter and raised their children, Will Hupp (Glendale, Arizona) and Dr. Danelle Hupp (Copley, Ohio).
All those who had the privilege of knowing Nina knew how she would cry with laughter. She brought smiles and joy to everyone she met. She loved music, dancing and shopping; she had a knack for anticipating the most popular songs and fashion trends. She spent much of her time watching tennis and true crime, surfing the internet, and using her brilliant mind to conquer the most difficult Sudoku and crossword puzzles. She taught her children the importance of caring for others by modeling how to help, support and value those in need. Her legacy of compassion and kindness will live on through all those whose lives she touched. She loved unconditionally and with all her might.
In addition to her parents, Nina was predeceased in death by her sister, Gloria. Surviving loved ones include her husband (Bill), daughter (Danelle with John Hunka), son (Will), two grandchildren in Arizona (Jake and Stephanie), two brothers in England (Bob and Perry), two sisters in England (Rita and Sandra), a sister in Spain (Teresa), her sister-in-law and brother-in-law (Carol and Jim Martin of Salem), and many nieces and nephews.
Though no services will be held per Nina's request, those who wish to remember and honor her might consider a gift to advance research for the treatment of ALS or to an animal charity of their choosing. Her children ask that, next time you see a yellow rose or a beautiful butterfly, you smile and remember her fondly. She would have loved for all pups to get an extra treat in her memory - and for all of us to remember to eat dessert first!
