LAS VEGAS - Wilda June McCowin, 93, formerly of Leetonia, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023, at her home in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she resided for the last 32 years.
She was born June 4, 1930, to the late Frank and Lela Hoopes Steer.
Wilda loved being with her family and friends, she enjoyed being with people, laughing and enjoyed life. In her free time, she could be found playing bingo, poker, shuffleboard or dancing. She was an inspiration to so many.
Her husband, Ralph McCowin, preceded her in death in March of 1993.
She was survived by four stepchildren, Sam of Vail Arizona, Shirley Bailey of Tucson, Arizona, Holly Strakbein of Mohave Valley, Arizona and Sandy Christino of Conway, S.C.; two brothers, Jerry Steer and Kenneth Steer, both of Damascus; 12 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, including Dorena Oliver and Lori Reiser with whom Wilda was very close with.
Wilda was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Steer, and two sisters, Lois Swetye and Elizabeth Workman.
A small family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
