SALEM -- Eva Rae Cody, 90, of Salem, Ohio, died peacefully at Salem Regional Medical Center on Jan. 23, 2024.
She was born in Salem on Oct. 24, 1933, to Ray and Katherine (Hess) Hannay. Eva Rae married Merlin "Mert" W. Cody on July 22, 1950.
Survivors include her son, Scot Cody; daughter, Nancy (Cody) Gilbertson and her husband, Kim; grandchildren, Kyle Gilbertson, Cody (Gilbertson) Kessler and her husband, Dorian, Bryan Cody, Geoff Cody; great-grandchildren, Camryn and Dawson Cody; sister, Mable Lou (Boody) McLean; brother, Paul Hannay and wife Sally; as well as her nieces and nephews.
She attended Salem High School and was a lifetime member of the Salem First Methodist Church in Salem. She was a longtime employee of Lease Drug.
Eva Rae was preceded in death by her husband, Mert; brother, Ronnie Hannay and his wife Roseanne, sister Margie Hannay Garloch and her husband Harold; brother-in-law, Jack McLean; and daughter-in-law, Monica Cody.
No services have been planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salem First Methodist Church, 244 S. Broadway, Salem, Ohio 44460.
We will cherish the many rich memories made with her.
