SALEM -- Ronald E. Berger, 80, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, at Aultman Hospital in Canton.
Ronald was born on Oct. 19, 1943, in Salem, the son of Ernest and Ida (Wiggers) Berger.
Ronald was a 1961 graduate of United Local Schools. He married Judith A. Wickersham of Hanoverton, April 8, 1962, at the Hanoverton Presbyterian Church. He was a farmer his whole life, still living where he was born and raised. After selling his dairy herd, Ronald worked and retired from the Butler Township Road Department. Ronald was a member of and the first president of the United Young Farmers. He was a member of the Salem Elks, and a former member of the Winona Ruritans. He attended the Church at the Center.
Besides his wife, Judith, Ron leaves one daughter, Debbie Ward and her husband Marty; two sons, Chad Berger, Matt Berger and his wife Liza; grandchildren, Carrie Bartholomew (Chase), Abby Miller, Joshua Miller, Reece Berger, Gavin Berger, Kennedy Berger, Faith Berger, Farrah Berger and Ashtyn Berger; great-grandchildren Liam and Rylee Bartholomew; step-grandsons Chase and Brett Ward; step-great-granddaughters, Jaycee and Jolene Ward.
Besides his parents, Ernest and Ida, Ron was preceded in death by his son, Eddie Berger; his daughter, Lacinda Berger; his brother, Kenneth Berger; and two sisters Mildred McLaughlin and Genesta Sanor.
A private family memorial service will be held at this time, with a community Celebration of Life at a future date at the family farm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association, or the Winona Volunteer Fire Department in Ron's name.
Arrangements are being handled by Stark Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
