NORTH CANTON - Elaine Simmons Williams, of East Liverpool, passed away while surrounded by her family Sunday evening, March 17, 2024, on her 57th wedding anniversary following a lengthy illness. She was 80.
Born in Lake Milton, Aug. 23, 1943, she was a daughter of the late John and Elaine and Westover Simmons. She was a graduate of Jackson-Milton High School and began working at the Prudential Insurance Agency in Boardman. She married and moved to this area and later graduated from Kent State in 1985. She worked as a bookkeeper for her family's business, Simmons Feed and Supply in Salem.
She was a member of the former Calvary United Methodist Church where she was the treasurer for many years and was an active choir member. At one time, she helped with the Beaver Local Band Boosters and was active in card club and enjoyed line dancing. She loved her friends and for years she enjoyed spending her lunchtime with them at Tim Horton's in Calcutta.
Her husband, William R. Williams Sr. passed away Dec. 6, 2022. They married March 17, 1967. She was also preceded in death by a brother, John Simmons.
She is survived by her loving children: three daughters, Christy Gibas and her husband, Frank, of Pittsburgh, Susan Elaine Williams of Canton, and Julie Brown and her husband, Derek, of Coshocton, along with a son, Bill Williams, Jr. and his wife, Stacy, of Newark, Ohio; as well as seven grandchildren: Megan Prichard and her husband, Wesley, Andrew Brown, Sara Brown, Olivia Gibas, Ella Williams, Blake Williams, and Allie Brown; as well as two great-grandchildren: Rory and Kit Prichard. A brother survives, Jay Simmons of Sebring, along with several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may visit Thursday evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 4 to 7 p.m. Rev. Jonathan Cordle and Pastor Dan Layman will conduct a funeral service Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.
Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
