Gerald ‘Jeff’ Jeffries
1932-2024
Gerald “Jeff” Jeffries, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 7, 2024, in Caldwell, Idaho surrounded by his family. Born on June 19, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio, Jeff was the son of Bertha Marsilia Chappel and Edwin Jeffries.
Jeff grew up in Salem, Ohio and was raised by his mother and mother’s sister, Frances M Filiti. He graduated from Salem Senior High School in 1950. Jeff worked as a car mechanic and later as a car salesman at Broomall Pontiac. He finished his career working for the Ohio Department of Agriculture as a meat inspector.
Jeff married the love of his life, Dorothy “Hot Dot” Moyer, in 1953, recently celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary. Together they raised their four children in a loving Catholic home.
Throughout his life, Jeff was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish, especially with his children and grandchildren. For years he umpired and refereed baseball and basketball games to fund his hunting trips. He was proud of his Italian heritage and served as the president of the Italian Club in Salem for many years.
Jeff relocated to Caldwell in 1992 where they enjoyed 30 years of retirement and shared a very special relationship with their children and children’s spouses.
Jeff leaves behind his wife, Dorothy Jeffries, of Caldwell, children Debbie (Jeff) Frankenberger of Bend, Oregon, Jennifer (Herb) Metier of Caldwell, Jim (Cathy) Jeffries of Boise, Idaho, and Mary (Roger) Jeffries O’Neill of West Palm Beach, Florida. Jeff’s love extended to his five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
His cremation arrangements were handled through Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell. To honor Jeff’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
