Alice "Ellie" Dangelo, 93, of Summitville, passed away Monday, April 29, 2024, at the Brookdale Senior Living of Salem with family at her side. She was born in Salem to the late John and Pauline Meissner on July 16, 1930.
Ellie graduated from Goshen High School and worked at Merit Shoe Store in Salem. She married Peter P. Dangelo May 14, 1955, and they celebrated 62 years together. Peter passed away Nov. 28, 2017. Ellie belonged to St. John the Evangelist Church in Summitville and was active in the Altar Rosary Society. She was also in the Ladies home Counsel. Ellie was also a leader in the 4-H club in Summitville.
Survivors are her children, Peter (Michelle) Dangelo of Salem, Nancy (Patrick) McCallister of Salem, Theresa McIntosh of New Garden, Thomas (Julie) Dangelo of Sylvania, Stephen (Julia) Dangelo of East Rochester. She had eight grandchildren: Dominic Dangelo, Nicholas Dangelo, Marcus Dangelo, Jennifer Altenburg, Megan Kilroy, Emily Leitza, Abby Burd and Sarah Kate Dangelo; and nine great-grandchildren: Korina Dangelo, Kalipso Dangelo, Elijah Dangelo, Isaiah Dangelo, Reese Dangelo, Reid Dangelo, Mackenzie Kilroy, Madison Kilroy and Audrey Burd. Siblings are Barbara Kline of Stow, Joe (Linda) Meissner of Cuyahoga Falls and Katherine Greenisen of Salem.
Ellie was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Helen Moore, Margaret Sabatino and John Meissner.
The Funeral Mass will be Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church in Summitville, with Father Steve Wassie officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family would like to thank all the staff of the Brookdale Senior Living and the staff from Patriot Hospice for their loving care of Ellie.
