SALEM --Frederick H. "Fred" Wolken, 78, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2024, at Windsor House in Canfield. Born on December 15, 1945, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Henry and Helen (Ruffing) Wolken.
Fred graduated from Bethel Park High School in 1963 and served in the U.S. Navy for six years. He later earned a degree in pharmacy from Duquesne University. Fred married Judy (Young) Wolken on May 11, 1974, and together they had four children. He later founded Fred's Family Pharmacy, serving his community for many years.
He was a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus and an active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. Fred enjoyed reading and golf.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Jennifer (Ralph) Short, Susan (Kyle) Gainor, Carolyn (Chad) Zines, and Robert (Lisa) Wolken; grandchildren, Ralph Jr., Sarah, Samantha, Lacie, Colton, Chloe, Hazel, Daniel, and Eve; and sister-in-law, Teresa Koval (Wolken).
Fred was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Wolken, and brother, Daniel Wolken.
Visitation will be held at Stark Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 5-7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 18, at St. Paul Catholic Church with Father Ruggieri officiating.
