LEETONIA -- Mrs. Alexandria "Alice" T. DiPanfilo, 95, of Leetonia, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024, at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Salem.
She was born on Dec. 30, 1928, in Crabtree, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Alex and Wladislava "Virginia" Strojek Karasiewsky.
Alice was a true coal miner's daughter and a hard-working woman who devoted much of her life to her husband and children. She held several jobs outside her home that included working for various restaurants in the area, the Dan-Dee Chip Factory in Leetonia, W.M. Inc. in Washingtonville and the Franklin Furniture in Columbiana where she worked as a seamstress. Alice was a devoted member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Leetonia and enjoyed ballroom dancing with her husband and playing cards with her friends. She loved playing both canasta and euchre, but mostly, she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Her husband, Daniel James DiPanfilo Sr., whom she married on June 12, 1948, preceded her in death on June 9, 2017.
Alice is survived by her six sons, Daniel (Linda E.) DiPanfilo Jr. of Chester, Maryland, Lawrence (Rebecca) DiPanfilo of Marietta, Georgia, Gerald DiPanfilo of Warren, Ohio, Ed DiPanfilo of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, Kenneth (Lori) DiPanfilo of Leetonia, Ohio, and Michael DiPanfilo of Westminster, Maryland. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Veronica Donnelly, Helen Simon, Amelia Dangerfield, Stephanie Karasiewsky, and Sophie Karasiewsky.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Leetonia, with Father Robert Edwards officiating.
Burial will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Leetonia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 167 Main St., Leetonia, OH 44431.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
