Christine Miller

1934-2024

SALEM — Christine Miller, 90, died peacefully surrounded by her family Sunday, Nov. 24, 2024, at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Salem.

Christine was born on Feb. 17, 1934, in Pikeville, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Elijah and Zeta “Alma” Spears Hite.

Born into a close-knit community, Christine’s early life set the foundation for her deep commitment to family values. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, roles she embraced with all her heart. Christine’s kitchen was the heart of her home, she believed that no meal was complete without a homemade dessert. An avid sports fan, Christine’s enthusiasm for Cleveland sports teams, Ohio State, and Kentucky Wildcats was infectious. Yet, nothing compared to the pride and joy she felt while attending her grandchildren’s sports games as Christine was their most devoted fan. Her knack for games extended beyond the sports field. She was a lucky gambler, often surprising her family with her uncanny ability to come out ahead. Her love for games and puzzles was more than a pastime; it was a way for her to bond with her loved ones, challenging their minds and sharing laughter.

She will be deeply missed but remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her spirit will continue to live on in the cherished memories she created with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, James Leslie Miller whom she married on Oct. 3, 1957; her children, Kimberly (David) Casto and Charles (Shelly) Miller; grandchildren, Andrew (Courtney) Nannah, Britney (Daniel) Leffler, Sean Casto, Kaitlin (Kyler) Smith, Cody Miller and Noah Miller; great-grandchildren, Rory Nannah, Jantzen Nannah, Carter Smith, Remi Smith and Axel Miller; and siblings, Lula Mae Cline, Southie Hite, and Cecil (Sue) Hite; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extra people she loved.

Besides her parents, Christine was preceded in death by her siblings, Irene Blackburn, Bill Hite, Herman Hite, and Gordon Hite.

Friends and family will be received at Stark Memorial from 1 to 3 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024, with a service to follow at 3 p.m. with her nephew, Roger Blackburn officiating.
