Viola Mae Neuenschwander
1936-2024
SALEM -- Viola Mae Neuenschwander was born on Sept. 24, 1936 in Salem, Ohio, daughter to the late Mabel and Henry Riehl.
Viola peacefully passed to her heavenly reward on Nov. 21, 2024 at the age of 88 years and 58 days.
She married Harry Neuenschwander on Oct. 7, 1956.
Viola will be fondly remembered by her children and grandchildren for her warm welcome and delicious meals she served. Her brown bobbies were a special treat and it was a fun day when the grandchildren could help her to ice them. Her flowers were a delight to all who passed by.
She is survived by four sons, Harry Jr. (Joanna) Neuenschwander of Salem, Ohio, Dennis (Patricia) Neuenschwander of Leetonia, Ohio, Stanley (Janice) Neuenschwander of Leetonia, Ohio, and Daryl (Daria) Neuenschwander of Stetsonville, Wisconsin. She also leaves two daughters, Elaine (Joe) Weaver of Columbiana, Ohio and Becky (Jimmie) Porter of Augusta, Georgia. Ronald (Florence) Smith of Dalton, Ohio lived in their home and became a dearly loved member of the family. Viola is also survived by 31 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Esther Riehl and Naomi Shaum.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Harry L. Neuenschwander; her brother Elmer Riehl; and three grandsons, Glendon, Lendal, and Jarrell Neuenschwander, as well as two great-grandsons, Jethro Weaver and Easton Neuenschwander.
The family will receive friends on Monday, Nov. 25, 2024 from 1 to 4 p.m. and again from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mount Joy Mennonite Church located at 549 Chestnut St. Ext., Leetonia, OH 44431. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024 at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Mount Joy Mennonite Church Cemetery.
