1938-2024

HANOVERTON — Norma Firth, 86, died peacefully surrounded by her family Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio. She was born on April 11, 1938, daughter of the late John and Elsie (Schwechlik) Sell.

Norma was a 1956 graduate of Augusta High School. Following graduation she began working as a key puncher at Deming Company. Later in life, she worked at the Salem Burger King for over a dozen years. Norma’s heart belonged to her family and her passions. She was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. Music was a cherished hobby of Norma’s life, and she played the dulcimer with a grace that could only come from a deep-seated passion. Her involvement with the Dulci-More group was a testament to her commitment to the art. Her leadership and enthusiasm shone brightly as she conducted the Dulci-More Little Eagles Group at United, inspiring young musicians for several years.

Survivors include her husband Richard, whom she married Sept. 5,1958 at the old Winona Friends Church; children, Ron Firth, George Firth (Mary), and Larry Firth (Christine); sister, Susan Gudat; grandchildren, Casandra Kolton (Michael), MacKenzie Williams (Teddy), and Tori Firth; great-grandchildren, Maxwell, and Adaline.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Patricia Hoffmaster and Edith Huffman, and her brothers John, Donald, Clyde, and Glenn Sell.

No services will be held per Norma’s wishes.

Donations may be made to Winona Friend’s Church where she was a lifelong member.

Arrangements are being handled by Stark Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
