David C. Stratton
1942-2025
David C. Stratton 82, of Salem, died at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, at Auburn Nursing and Rehab Center.
He was born on April 12, 1942, in Salem, the son of the late Herman Coy and Doris Mae (Cobbs) Stratton.
He had retired from the Salem City School System as their Curriculum Coordinator, and later served as the Junior High Athletic Facilitator. He was the Director Emeritus of the Salem Historical Society. David had been an active member of the Salem First Friends Church, a member of the sound room and video system team, and Sunday school Supt. of the Junior high class. He was also a member to the Gideon Society.
He is survived by his wife, Marsine (Filp) Stratton, whom he married on Aug. 1, 1970; his sisters Grace Stratton and Marilyn Jobin; and a beloved uncle to nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews and great-great-nieces and -nephews; sister-in-law Bassha Stratton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert, and a sister, Dolores Ehinger. Services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Salem First Friends Church, with Pastor Pete Fowler officiating. The burial will follow in Hope Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
