SALEM — Jim “Rooster” McLaughlin Sr., 89, of Salem, died on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, at Salem West Healthcare, Salem.
He was born on March 23, 1935, in West Point, son of the late Lawrence and Viola Cusick McLaughlin.
Jim was the owner and operator of C & J Trucking and worked alongside various other companies. He was a member of Church of the Nazarene, Columbiana. Jim was a sports fan and an avid Ohio State Football fan, he was known as a great storyteller and was a loving father and family man.
James is survived by his wife, Charlotte Smith McLaughlin, whom he married on June 23, 1955; four children, Kathy (Jeff) Pennell of Columbiana, Bonnie (Richard) Lewis of New Middletown, Jim (Lori) McLaughlin Jr. of Leetonia and Patricia O’Rourke of Bean Station, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; four siblings, Leroy, Leonard, Rella, and Fred.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth, and three brothers, Arnie, Ron, Larry.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 17, 2025 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
Services will be held on Friday, Jan. 17, 2025, at 2 pm at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana, with Pastor Jan Winnale officiating.
