David W. Floyd

A Celebration of Life for David W. Floyd will be held Feb. 16, 2025 from 10 to 3 p.m. at the Italian Club of Salem located at 250 Penn Avenue Salem, OH 44460.
David passed away in his sleep on Nov. 30, 2024. He was born on March 13, 1951, in Fayette County, Ky., the son of John and Virginia Floyd. He was a tool and die maker for 25 years for the Chrysler Corporation in Twinsburg, until they closed in 2010. He was a 1971 graduate of Salem High School and was active in football as well in track and field program. He was a captain of the team and held the record for the high hurdle. Dave became an assistant coach to help mentor and train the young students under the direction of Track Coach Walter "Bing" Newton.
Dave had his own body shop where he would work on and paint motorcycles and cars. The 1955 Chevy Sedan Delivery was a stand out piece of his work. His pride and joy was building his 1934 Ford hotrod. After retirement, he enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his longtime partner for 30 years, Gertrude Alice Hogue-Floyd, along with four siblings: Crail (Kathryn) Floyd, Tom (Donna) Floyd, John Floyd and Sarah Kleinman plus numerous nieces and nephews.
