James K. Thellman
1941-2025
SALEM — James K. Thellman, known affectionately as Jim to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on Jan. 31, 2025, at the age of 83 in his beloved hometown of Salem, Ohio. Born on Dec. 21, 1941, Jim’s zest for life and his adventurous spirit were evident from an early age.
Jim’s journey through life was marked by his deep love for his family. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Jackie Thellman, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage that began on March 23, 1968. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and mutual respect until her passing. Although they had no children of their own, Jim’s generous heart and creative spirit were a significant influence on his nephews, Robert (Amie) Hasson and Scott (Lacey) Hasson, as well as Tim (Diane) Oriole, whom he regarded and loved like a son. These family members will forever cherish the memories and lessons learned from Jim.
Professionally, Jim dedicated many years of service to Alliance Machine, where his talents and work ethic were greatly valued. He was not only a skilled worker but also a creative problem-solver who could be counted on to find innovative solutions to complex challenges.
Jim’s passion for the outdoors was the cornerstone of his life. An avid hunter and fisherman, he spent countless hours in the serenity of nature, where he felt most at home. His love for archery and shooting was more than a hobby; it was a testament to his adventurous spirit and his constant pursuit of excellence. Jim’s respect for the natural world was matched only by his skill in outdoor sports, and he found great joy in sharing this love with his family and friends.
Those who knew Jim would describe him as not only adventurous and creative but also as exceptionally generous. He lived his life with a sense of curiosity and wonder that was infectious. Jim’s legacy is one of boundless generosity, creative spirit, and a passion for the great outdoors that he passed on to all who were lucky enough to know him.
As we bid farewell to Jim, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to inspire us. He lived a life full of purpose, adventure, and kindness, touching the hearts of many. Jim’s memory will live on in the stories told around campfires, the silent woods where he once walked, and in the hearts of his loving family and the many friends who were privileged to share in his extraordinary life.
