1996-2025
SALEM — Macy Celeste Goodman, 28, passed away on Sunday evening, March 2, 2025. She was born June 4, 1996, in Alliance, Ohio, the oldest child of David A. Goodman Jr. and Cristy (Baird) Goodman.
Macy was a 2014 graduate of Salem High School, where she was involved in a variety of activities, including choir, bells, track, flag line, Spanish Club, Key Club, and TACT. Macy’s leadership qualities shone brightly as a member of National Honor Society and as the yearbook editor, and her peers recognized her bright disposition, voting her best smile for senior superlative and prettiest smile for the yearbook.
Continuing her education at Youngstown State University, Macy demonstrated her commitment to helping others by earning a Bachelor of Nursing Degree in 2018. Macy began her nursing journey at Mercy Health’s St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, where she quickly gained valuable experience as a member of the Level 1 Trauma Emergency Room team. Macy’s career path led her to work for One Staff, where she was assigned to the Cleveland Clinic Emergency Room. She embraced each new challenge with enthusiasm and grace, often being the one to guide new hires with her experience and forged many friendships along the way. Her professional achievements were numerous, but a recent highlight was receiving the prestigious “Gold Brain” pin for her exemplary role in a stroke case, where the medication TNK was administered in 19 minutes, well below the 30-minute goal.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Macy was independent and an adventurer at heart. Just last May, she was brave enough to set out on a three-week cross-country trip on her own to explore the beauty of the National Parks. Macy recently bought her first home just down street from her parents, ensuring she remained close to her family. She enjoyed channeling her creative side and tackling DIY projects to make the space her own. Macy also enjoyed researching holistic and natural products, often crafting natural cleaners to use around her home.
Macy’s legacy is one of compassion, vibrancy, and commitment to making a positive impact on the world. Her kind and giving spirit, boisterous laugh, and compassion and empathy for others, will be lovingly remembered, and missed by many.
Macy is survived by her mother, Cristy Goodman, of Salem; siblings, Madison Goodman, and David A. Goodman, both of Salem; grandparents, Audrey Maley of Salem, and Jim Baird of Brookfield; step-grandmother, Debbie Goodman of Salem; a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her beloved cats, Honey Bun, and Simba.
Macy was preceded in death by her father, David A. Goodman, Jr.; grandmother, Vera Wilson; and grandfather, David A. Goodman, Sr.
Family and friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Stark Memorial Funeral Home, 1014 E. State St., Salem, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
