Robert W. Herron 89, of Hanoverton, Ohio, transitioned peacefully to heaven on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at home.
He was born on May 20,1935, in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of the late James and Gertrude (Woolman) Herron.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years Mary Louise (Pasquini) Herron, and by Shirley Stumpo his beloved companion in the later years of life, his twin brother James Herron, sister Kathleen Miller and brother Raymond Herron.
Bob was raised Catholic and attended high school on the Southside of Pittsburgh. He worked as an auto mechanic with Goodyear and later retired from the International Brotherhood of Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers.
He moved to Guilford Lake after retirement, where he was an active member in the community. He was often referred to as “the Mayor of Guilford Lake” by dear friends and neighbors who gathered every morning at his home for coffee.
Bob is survived and will be greatly missed by his three daughters: Kathleen Barrett, Debra (Bruce) Zurawsky and Jennifer Herron, all of Pittsburgh, Pa., sister Susan (Larry) Lantz of Springfield, Ohio. He was Pap Pap to six grandchildren: Mandie (Jay) Kalsek, Nicole Barrett, Krista Barrett, DJ (Rachel) Barrett, Danielle (Kevin) Reber and Alexandria (Josh) Pohlot; 10 great-grandchildren: Kayla, Julia, Nico, Zach, Emma, Jacob, Finley, Gavin, Ethan and Savannah; and one great-great-grandson: Lincoln; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life is being planned for the near future.
