Michael Thomas Chmura

1960-2025

Michael Thomas Chmura, 64, of Salem, died peacefully at 8:15 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2025, at his home.

He was born on Oct. 14, 1960, in Boston, Mass., son of the late Donald J. and Loretta G. (DeDoming) Chmura.

Michael was currently employed at Fresh Mark in Salem for 18 years, in the dry storage department. He was dedicated to his job with a perfect record of attendance.

He is survived by his wife, the former Melissa Kaye Magyaros, whom he married May 19, 1990; sister Jeanne Chmura; brother, Donald (Celeste) Chmura; brothers-in-law; Bob Magyaros, Barry (Debbie) Magyaros and Jose Pagan; sisters-in-law, Melody (Mark) Franken and Anne Magyaros; father-in-law John Magyaros; numerous nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Paul Chmura, sister Mary Chmura, and his dear mother-in-law Kaye Magyaros.

Services will be on Saturday, April 19, 2025, 1 p.m. at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem, with Chaplain Daron Butler officiating. A time of visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The family has planned for a meal to immediately follow the services in the fellowship hall of the Salem First Christian Church on East Sixth Street in Salem.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help with medical expenses.
