1932-2025

BERLIN CENTER — Ruth Ann (Shively) Myers, 92, of Berlin Center, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025. She was born on Sept. 26, 1932, to William and Mabel Shively of Sebring. Ruth graduated from Sebring High School, where she was introduced to her future husband, David C. Myers. On April 12, 1951, they were married and shared 73 years together.

Ruth is survived by her husband, David; their children, Clark Myers, Kathy (Roger) Berger, Craig (Shirley) Myers, and Brenda (Dave) Mowery. She was a grandmother to 15 and a great-grandmother to 35. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Vernon Shively.

Ruth was known for her love of family and her tireless devotion as a mother. Ruth helped on the family farm, where she would help with farm work and cook for family members and helpers. Ruth was well known for her spaghetti.

After raising her family, her desire to become a nurse led her to attend Hannah E. Mullins School of Nursing, where she became an LPN. She was a passionate sports fan, her favorites were The Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Guardians. As a loyal supporter of Western Reserve High School, she enjoyed attending her grandchildren sporting events, where she was well-known for her clap. She also took stats at many sporting events and served as the official scorekeeper for the school’s softball team for several years.

Ruth was an active member of her community, serving on multiple committees at the Canfield Fair. She was also a longtime member of the Eastern Star. In addition, she enjoyed participating in various social clubs, including bowling leagues, golf leagues, and a card club with her friends for many decades.

She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and anyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Ruth’s legacy of love, dedication, and service will continue to inspire those who were touched by her life.

Friends and family will be received Monday, April 7, 2025 from 10 a.m. to noon at Stark Memorial. A funeral service will follow at Stark Memorial at noon.
