Sara ‘Sally’ Ann Gale

1941-2025

SALEM — Sara “Sally” Ann Gale, 83, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, at Crandall Medical Center in Sebring.

Born on Sept. 21, 1941, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.

Sally was the cherished daughter of the late Rev. Roy Smith and his wife Beatrice (Lane) Smith, and the loving wife of the late John Gale, to whom she was wed on a joyous February day in 1993.

She carried the memories of her late son, Thomas Marx, as well as her half-brothers, Horace Dewey Smith and Robert Stanley Smith, in her heart. Sally’s legacy continues through her devoted sons, William (Lisa) Marx and James (Atisha) Marx, as well as her adored grandchildren, Dillon Dominic (Mackenzie) Marx, Jeffrey William (Kaytee) Marx, Ashley Lauren (Brad) Larson, Caitlyn Ann Marx, and Madison Olivia Marx; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew Larson and Belle Marx.

Through her formative years, Sally’s life was intricately woven into the fabric of the towns she called home as her father ministered to various communities. She imbibed the essence of places like Masury, Brookfield, Nelson, Garrettsville, Akron, Byesville, Alliance and ultimately, Salem. Her childhood, enriched by a spectrum of experiences, helped shape her understanding and compassion — an attribute that would become a cornerstone of her professional life.

Sally pursued and achieved her associate’s degree in nursing and embarked on a rewarding career as a home health RN, where she provided care and comfort to the infirm with unrivaled dedication. Her commitment to service was further exemplified through her active role in the Salem First Methodist Church’s Evangelism Committee, Fadely Guild, and Home Builders Class.

Beyond her professional and spiritual endeavors, Sally found her greatest joy in the company of family. She was a constant presence at her grandchildren’s academic and sporting events, radiating pride and support. Her love, laughter, and wisdom will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege of sharing in her journey.

Private family services will be held and burial will take place at Grandview Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Stark Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
