Scott Oliver Means

1959-2025

Scott Oliver Means, 65, of Lisbon, died at 6:20 a.m. Sunday in the emergency room of Salem Regional Medical Center.

He was born on Oct. 2, 1959, in East Liverpool, Ohio, the son of James O. Means and the late Martha J. (McCauley) Means who passed in December 2024.

Scott came to Salem from Wellsville, then later moved to Sunrise Homes in Lisbon. He was very well liked and received by all the residents and staff. Scott always enjoyed dressing up in bright colorful clothing and unique socks. He was very religious in his beliefs and he was not afraid to die. Scott liked to play music and dance at times to what he was playing. He and his brother were active in the Special Olympics here in Columbiana County. One of his favorite pastimes was watching old classic TV programs.

In addition to his father of Lisbon, he is survived by his brothers: Brent of Damascus and Daniel of Lisbon, and his extended family, the residents and staff of Sunrise Homes.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2025, 3 p.m. at Sunrise Homes (in the gray and blue building) (38655 Saltwell Road, Lisbon, Ohio 44432) with the Rev. Greg Pennington officiating. A time of visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. He will be laid to rest with his mother in Woodsdale Cemetery near Guilford Lake on Thursday morning.

The Family has asked that memorial contributions to be made to the Special Olympics Ohio Inc. / Columbiana, County 5889 Bye Road, East Palestine, Ohio 44413.
