Lorin A. Shepard Jr.

1939-2025

SALEM — Lorin A. Shepard Jr., passed on November 11, 2025, surrounded by the love and warmth of family.

Born on November 4, 1939, in Cleveland, to Lorin A. Shepard Sr. and Gertrude (Gaser) Shepard Childs, he was a devoted family man, a pillar of strength and love to his beloved wife, Marcia (Hundertmarck) Shepard, whom he married on September 5, 1964.

Professionally, Lorin was an accountant at Salem Valve Co and was the former owner of the Salem Ice Cream Parlor. His steadfast faith and commitment to the Salem First Presbyterian Church were evident in his service as a trustee, elder, and deacon. His melodious voice graced the church choir and uplifted the spirits of all who listened. Additionally, Lorin demonstrated a unique compassion and engagement with his community by proudly serving as a judge for the Special Skating Olympics in Salem.

Cherishing his memory is his wife, Marcia; son, Christopher Shepard; daughter-in-law, Laura Shepard; and grandchildren, Daniel Aaron Shepard and Ava Caroline.

He’s preceded in passing by his parents, brother, Henry Jacob Shepard, and son, Michael Lorin Shepard.

Calling hours will be from Noon-1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Salem First Presbyterian Church, with a funeral service to immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Annie Parker. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery immediately following the service.
