Marilyn A. Herron

1937-2025

SALEM — Marilyn A. Herron, 88, passed away peacefully on Dec. 31, 2025, surrounded by her family at Salem Regional Medical Center.

Born on Jan. 15, 1937, in Beloit, she was the loving daughter of the late Edward and Alice (Warren) Stratton.

Marilyn’s heart found its match when she married the love of her life, Denton Herron, on Oct. 26, 1956, with whom she shared a remarkable journey until her last day. The couple was blessed with their beloved daughters, Jennifer (John) Lesko of Salem, and the late Denise Herron Weingart; and four grandchildren, Jared Weingart, Jacob Weingart, Zander Lesko, and Muirin Lesko.

Professionally, Marilyn carved out a successful career as a self-employed interior decorator for 15 years, where her creativity and eye for detail brightened many homes. Her professional life was further intertwined with her husband’s endeavors as she worked alongside him at Herron Transfer for 15 years.

A pillar of the North Benton Presbyterian Church, Marilyn was its oldest living member and served God and her congregation as a deacon, elder, and treasurer for many years. In addition, Marilyn’s social life was enriched by her involvement in several card clubs and her leadership as a Campfire Girls co-leader when her children were growing up. Her unwavering community spirit was further exemplified as a former member of the Ladies Elks Auxiliary.

Marilyn’s joys included camping and the outdoors, her flower garden, and she especially enjoyed her butterfly garden.

Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, at the North Benton Presbyterian Church. A funeral service will immediately follow at noon with Rev. Herb Goetz officiating. Burial will take place at Hope Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Marilyn’s name to the North Benton Presbyterian Church, 19070 N. Benton Road W, North Benton, Ohio 44449
