SALEM — Ronald S. Truitt, 83, passed away on Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, with his devoted family by his side.
He was born on Aug. 22, 1942, in North Jackson, Ohio, to the late Richard and Edith (Dierkes) Truitt.
Ron graduated from Western Reserve High School in 1960.
Ron married his high school sweetheart, Catherine Sue Genge, on April 23, 1962. They have spent 63 loving years together. They always traveled together, their favorite place to go was Florida. They spent many winters there over the span of 20 years. They also traveled out west in their mobile home, creating many unforgettable moments and sharing new experiences with each other.
He worked at Bare’s Farm Equipment in Ellsworth and then moved to Delphi Packard where he spent 36 years.
Ron was known for loving the outdoors. He was always working on projects in his barn or spending time out by their lake. Ron was determined most days to work on his farm. He was a proud grass-fed beef farmer, spending many long days maintaining everything. Ron spent most of his time outside and farming until his health declined. He loved spending time around the campfire, sharing laughs and many endearing moments with his friends and family. When the day was coming to an end and it was time to return to the house, he was always excited to eat whatever Sue had prepared for them.
Ron was a big fan of Pittsburgh sports teams, including the Steelers and Pirates.
He leaves behind his adoring wife, Catherine Sue; his two sons, Timothy (Kathy) Truitt and James (Jessica) Truitt; a daughter, Lisa Martig; and eight loving grandchildren, Tiffany, Jessica, Bailey, Jason, Phillip, Shae, Lauren, and Katie. Ron will also be dearly missed by nine great-grandchildren; his five brothers, Larry Truitt, Rick Truitt, Jon Truitt, Robert Truitt, and Chuck Truitt; and two sisters, Carol Selley and Debra Shrader.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dennis Truitt and Tom Truitt.
