Janet Ruth Cunningham Silver
Janet Ruth Cunningham Silver passed away on March 21, 2026. She died peacefully at her daughter’s home, after a short illness surrounded by her family. She was 92 years old. Janet was born in East Liverpool, Ohio.
After graduating from Salem High School, she moved to Washington, D.C., to work in the insurance field and met her future husband, Robert Troy Silver. They returned to Salem, Ohio, and had four children: James Robert Silver (died at 3 days old), Susan Silver of Lubbock, Betsy Silver Tebo and husband Tom from Wolfforth and Robert Silver of Colorado.
She worked in the newspaper world for the next 40 years as a composing room manager at the Salem News and various newspapers in New York and Connecticut. She retired in 2001 and moved to Texas and worked at Hospice of Lubbock for 20 years. After a brief retirement from Hospice, she worked at 3 Peas Learning Academy for two years until her final retirement five months ago.
She enjoyed travel, traveling to England, Scotland and multiple trips to Mexico. She loved hot air balloons; teddy bears and her home always had cats.
She has two grandchildren, Jennifer Silver Stewart (husband is Brandon), Josh Silver of Ravenna, Ohio, (wife Deanna); five great-grandchildren, Olivia Stewart, twins Dane and Danni Stewart, all of Lubbock, and Alexander Silver, Chloe Silver, all of Ravenna, Ohio.
The family will host a gathering to celebrate her life on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 6 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Please visit www.memorialdesigners.net to share memories with the family.
