Phil Shasteen

1949-2026

Phil Shasteen, 76, of Tampa, Florida, died on Saturday, Feb. 28, at Moffitt Magnolia Hospital. He was born on March 14, 1949 in Salem, Ohio, son of the late Gordon and Sara (Serbanuta) Shasteen.

Phil graduated from Salem High School, Youngstown State University and Stetson University College of Law and was a distinguished Tampa Bay area Securities Attorney for 50 years. He enjoyed sail boating and was an avid golfer as a member of Saint Petersburg Country Club. He was a founding member of The New Breed popular Ohio 8-piece soul band.

He is survived by his wife, the former Monica L. Barrett, whom he married in 1995; his sister, Carol (Tom) Larson of Olmitz, Kansas; and brother, James Shasteen (Marcia Byrer) of Saint Petersburg, Florida.

A celebration of life will be held at Blount & Curry Life Event Center Tampa, Florida on March 28, 2026 at 3:30 p.m.
