Kaye D. Rosta

1941-2026

SALEM — Kaye Dawn Rosta, 84, of Salem, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of April 13.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Elsie; her mother, Dorothy; her father, Arthur; her sisters Marcie, Paulette, and Bernice; and her dear husband John Rosta.

She is survived by a large and loving family including her sisters Robin, Jo, and Patricia. She will be missed especially by her children: Nicholas “Nick,” Michael “Mike” (Theresa DiAntonio), and Victoria “Sis” (Harry Koons), along with her grandchildren Connor, Cooper, Lara Jayde, and Andrew, as well as many other honorary children and grandchildren that she “adopted” throughout her long and loving life.

Kaye was a graduate of Salem High School, Class of 1959. She later met her husband John and they married in Winchester, Virginia. As a proud mother of three, she enjoyed many beautiful moments with her family, but one of her proudest moments as a mother came when she controversially took on the role of baseball coach of her son Mike’s team in a year when nobody else would volunteer. Kaye took charge and led the team on a fun-filled season that is remembered by many to this day. She worked for many years as a licensed beautician with her best friend, Alice Bezeredi, and eventually invested the rest of her professional life in a career at J. H. Lease Drug Company in Salem, Ohio, where she made lifelong bonds with her coworkers and cherished friends.

After retiring in 2008, she was able to spend more time doing the things that she loved: crocheting and crafting, playing BINGO, visiting the casino, watching Cash Explosion, playing scratch-offs (hoping to get on Cash Explosion), making Sunday family dinners, spoiling her grandkids on Christmas, going to auctions and garage sales, and spending time with the people that she loved — that was what mattered most to her, quality time together. Kaye’s life was a vibrant patchwork quilt made up of experiences, memories, prayers, humor, and hope, stitched together with the love that she gave freely to all who needed it. She will be remembered well and missed by many.
