SALEM — Carol L. Keir, 90, passed away with family by her side on Thursday, May 14, 2026. She was born on Aug. 3, 1935, in Alliance Ohio, to the late Emmett and Wilma (Steele) Aiken.
Her primary years were spent at Highland School, a one room schoolhouse near her home. She then completed her schooling at Salem High School in the graduating class of 1953.
She married W. Frank Keir on April 6, 1956. They shared 53 years together, building their home on her family farm. Carol lovingly cared for her husband in his final years.
Carol was a bank teller at First National Bank, and later Society Bank. She enjoyed serving the community and forming lasting friendships.
She was dedicated to her family. She enjoyed sharing her table with family and friends, and especially the laughter as humor was a common thread throughout her life. She enjoyed sewing quality dresses and shirts for her family, and costume dresses she wore while dancing in the Square Wheels club.
Carol enjoyed antique cars and car clubs. She belonged to Tri State Antique Car Club, the Western Reserve Antique Car Club and the A.A.C.A. Carol and Frank enjoyed numerous cross-country adventures and made lifelong friends. Carol was active in her community as a member of the Winona Methodist Church Hazel Circle, Teegarden Covered Bridge Restoration Project and a lifetime member of Winona Historical Society.
Carol spent the majority of her life on Yates Road in Salem with her final years at Copeland Oaks/Crandall Medical Center in Sebring, continuing to make friends with residents and staff. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff for their loving care of Carol.
She leaves behind her three sons, Roy (Teri) Keir, Ron Keir, and Alan (Tina) Keir, and her daughter, Krista (Dave) Snoddy. Carol will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Kelly Keir, Kimberly (Tony) Gentry, Kristine Keir, Cassandra (Mark) Traetow, Brian (Jackie) Snoddy, Justin Keir, and Ryan Keir, as well as her great-grandchildren, Emmett, Eva, Harlow, Ivy, Charlotte, Hayes, Riley, and Liam. She also leaves behind her sister, Judith (Bill) Heston and a cousin, Raymond (Cora) Beck.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, W. Frank Keir.
A visitation for Carol will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Stark Memorial Funeral Home, located at 1014 E. State St., Salem, Ohio. A funeral service will commence at 12:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Carol will be laid to rest next to her husband at Highland Christian Church Cemetery in Salem.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Winona Methodist Church, located at P.O. Box 25, Winona, Ohio 44493.
