Frederick R. Crowgey

1929-2026

SEBRING -- Frederick R. Crowgey Jr., 97, of Copeland Oaks, died peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026, at the Crandall Medical Center surrounded by his wife and their children. He was born Sept. 29, 1929, in Akron, the son of the late Frederick R. Crowgey Sr. MD and the late Olive (Dickey) Crowgey.

Fred retired from the former Bliss-Salem Inc. as project supervisor in mechanical engineering. He was a member and former deacon of the First United Methodist Church of Salem. While living in South Carolina, he was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, treasurer for the Lion's Club and was an Elder at Abbyville Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife of almost 79 years Catherine H. (Hardie) Crowgey, whom he married Dec. 31, 1947 ; two daughters, Christine (Todd) Duncan of Houston, Texas, and Catherine Jean (Fred) Amini of Cincinnati; and two sons, Frederick R. (Virginia) Crowgey III of West Grove, Pa., and Philip (Priscilla) Crowgey of Salem; a sister, Diana Harvey of Hillsboro; 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Philip A. Crowgey.

A private memorial service will be held.
