SALEM – Steven Lee Zepernick, 70, of Salem, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2026, at Auburn Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Born on March 22, 1956, in Salem, Ohio, he was the son of Clyde and Ida Hartsough Zepernick. Steven spent his life rooted in the community he called home and was known by many for his steady presence, strong work ethic, and devotion to public service. He graduated from United High School in 1974 and went on to build a long and meaningful career with the Salem Police Department.
Steven served as a police officer and later retired as Chief of Auxiliary at the Salem Police Department after 38 years of dedicated service. His years in law enforcement reflected his commitment to helping others and his pride in serving the people of Salem.
