To the editor:

I am reaching out to ask all Ohio voters to cast a resounding “NO” vote on Issue 1 when it comes up for consideration on August 8th 2023. This proposed measure carries significant implications for the well-being of working individuals and members of labor unions across our state.

Should Issue 1 be approved, it would create an opportunity for pro-corporate legislators to exploit the 60 percent vote requirement, as they have attempted to do in the past and push forward their agenda of establishing Ohio as a “right to work” state. This harmful move would undermine the collective bargaining power of unions, diminish wages, and erode vital workplace safeguards.

We require a fair and inclusive system that ensures the voices of all Ohioans are heard, rather than one that favors special interests and succumbs to corporate influences. Let us unite to protect the rights of our working individuals and members of labor unions by firmly casting a “NO” on Issue 1.
