Still waiting for an answer
To the editor:
I have somewhat gotten a more “peaceful feeling” since our Congress and “the man in the White House,” through “many tough negotiations,” averted a national debt ceiling crisis.
For example, delay in Social Security, to which it is said that almost 60 percent of those retired is their only source of income; a passing out of IOUs to those in the military; and to this and that, because our country runs on credit. My limited math tells me this is a formula for disaster for sure.
While this “agreement” was being negotiated, I called our Congressman Bill Johnson’s office three times — D.C. office, Salem office and Canfield office — with the simple question, “Will the Congressman receive his paycheck is an agreement is not reached?” Two of the aides could not answer, “because they did not know.” One said, “yes,” as far as he know but ALL said they would get back to me with an answer to the question. Well as to date (July 18), NO ANSWER!!!
I have since learned, through people who have reached out to the Congressman, that this is norm for him.
Might I remind him, I am the boss and when the boss asks, he is entitled to an answer. I pose this to ALL who are paid through tax dollars: If some questions make you nervous, maybe you should not be in the job!
