To the editor:

On behalf of the city council members and city officials of Columbiana, I want to congratulate the American Legion Post 290 on another successful street fair — the 138th. We especially recognize Jake Sevek, fair manager, for his leadership in promoting and managing what is now the second largest street fair in Ohio.

This beautiful and historic event continues to be a cherished homecoming for everyone who has ever called Columbiana their home. Starting on Thursday with one of the best parades in Ohio, it continues on through Saturday night as thousands walk the midway filled with rides, displays and a wide variety of food venues.

Our American Legion sponsors a number of events and services that benefit our community. At this time of year, hundreds of kids play soccer at the Legion. These facilities are well maintained and probably one of the best in the area.

We are truly blessed to have the men and women of the American Legion play such an important role in the life of Columbiana. I urge everyone to thank a member of the Legion for all they do. Again, thank you.
