Columbiana County auditor working for property tax reform

To the citizens of Columbiana County:

A few weeks ago, I shared with you that my office, in compliance with Ohio law, was in the process of completing what is known as the Triennial Update with the Department of Taxation.

I know that for many of you, property taxes have become a tremendous burden. As I shared with you previously, it is my strong belief that the current process of property evaluation is flawed and in desperate need of reform.

Until that happens, my office and I have worked diligently to send evaluation proposals to the state that would serve to keep your tax increase as low as possible. We have been working with the County Auditor’s Association to present solutions that will reform the property tax system in order to relieve the increasing burden felt by residential homeowners.

We have sent three different proposals, and I am sad to say all three have been rejected.

We have since sent in yet another proposal and are awaiting the decision of the Department of Taxation.

It is my sincere hope that Governor DeWine’s “Property Tax Reform Working Group” will result in the creation of a formula that will provide true property tax relief to homeowners and businesses in Ohio.

In the meantime, my office and I will continue to work on your behalf as well as keep you informed of any significant developments in the future.

Starting at $2.99/week.
