With star players and interesting twists/turns, the NFL has become a popular sport worldwide. It has thousands of fans waiting every year so that they can enjoy their favorite teams on the field.
Besides fans, it also has bettors worldwide waiting to interpret NFL predictions and making profits like never before. However, it’s important to stay aligned with the NFL rules and changes to achieve that.
Speaking of which, recently, the NFL issued a complete list of playing rules, Bylaws, and resolution proposals that are proposed and considered for NFL 2023. Check out all the 9 proposed rules to be super smart on super bowl Sunday:
Use of Zero in Jersey Number
Philadelphia proposed to amend rule 5, Section 1, Article 2. The Eagles want the NFL to allow the usage of jerseys with numbers between 0 to 49 and 90 to 99.
4th and 20th Possession
The next proposal was also by the Philadelphia Eagles, where they proposed revising Rule 6, Section 1. They requested to allow the team to maintain possession of the ball after a score by replacing one offensive play (4th and 20th from the 20-yard line of the kicking team) with an onside kickoff attempt.
Play Clock Adjustment
The Los Angeles Chargers proposed to revise Rule 4, Section 6, Article 3, and Section 7, Article 4. They requested to adjust the play clock following an Instant Replay reversal consistent with the timing rules.
To Challenge Personal Fouls
The Detroit Lions also came up with a proposal suggesting revising Rule 15, Section 3, Article 9. They proposed to broaden the coaches’ challenge system and include personal fouls.
Third Challenges
The Detroit Lions came up with another proposal that suggested revising Rule 15, Section 1. They recommend providing the clubs with more third-challenge opportunities. This means if the proposal gets accepted, coaches will be allowed to make a third challenge if either of their first two challenges is successful. The rule is that if both challenges are successful, only coaches can go for a third challenge.
Review on Failed Fourth Downs
Houston Texans suggested amending Rule 15, Section 1, Article 2 and allowing the expansion of the replay official’s jurisdiction for review on failed fourth down

Roughing the Passer Players
During a recent meeting, the Los Angeles Rams suggested another proposal to amend Rule 15, Section 1, and Section 3 of the NFL rulebook. They recommended allowing Roughing the Passer penalties to be reviewed via a coach’s challenge.
Penalty Review Rules
Besides several proposals made by the Detroit Lions, they came up with yet another proposal of amending Rule 15, Section 3. They suggested expanding the NFL’s Replay Officials’ jurisdiction on penalty cases.
Expansion of Crackback Block
The New York Jets proposed to revise Rule 12, Section 2, Article 6. According to them, they want the league to expand the crackback prohibition to players who go in motion and beyond the center to block (split flow block) any defender lower than the waist.
Final Note
So these are the nine rule changes that are being considered by the NFL lately. Out of all, the Detroit Lions submitted around 3 rule change proposals (highest) to the NFL. While all of these suggestions seem interesting, which one do you think can bring greater changes to the game? Like you, we don’t know either! But we are hoping that the change transforms the NFL game for good.
