Champion 3

The Crestview Lady Rebels prevailed against Champion 5-3 to claim the sectional final Thursday night. Senior Maci Shaffer’s four goals made the difference on a rainy, weather-delayed night, and she was assisted by a corner from Sophia Carr and three assists from open play by Karagin Miller, who added a fine solo goal as well. Goalie Lexie Huff had five saves.

The Lady Rebels (10-7) will play Ursuline in the district semifinals on Monday at home.

Berkshire 12,

Leetonia 0

BURTON — Berkshire ended Leetonia’s season with a 12-0 rout on Thursday during a Div. III sectional game.

The two-seeded Badgers (12-3-3) move on to play Badger in a district game, Monday.

Leetonia, the 20th seed, wraps up its season with a 2-9 record.

Ursuline 1, United 0

HANOVERTON — Youngstown Ursuline shut out United with a 1-0 victory on Thursday during a Div. III girls sectional soccer match.

Ursuline, the 10th seed, advances to play Crestview at 6 p.m. Monday.

The third-seeded Eagles finish the season at 9-4-1.

Canfield 6,

West Branch 5 (SO)

CANFIELD –Two-seeded Canfield topped West Branch girls soccer in a shootout, 6-5, Thursday during a Div. II sectional game.

The seventh-seeded Warriors ended their season with a 12-4-2 record.

Daphne Snyder and Chloe Dennison each had a goal for West Branch. Zoe Sanders had 16 saves and Sophia Gregory had a goal.

Canfield will face West Geauga at 6 p.m. on Monday.

South Range 14,

Campbell 0

GREENFORD — The South Range boys soccer team is playing its best late in the season.

The third-seeded Raiders won their 11th straight match with a 14-0 victory over 18th-seeded Campbell Memorial in a Division III sectional final Wednesday.

Jack Staffeld scored twice in the opening three minutes and Logan Butcher added a hat trick in the first 11 minutes and the rout was on.

South Range senior Camden Thomas set single-season school records with his 41st goal and 26th assists.

South Range (3-2-1) will host sixth-seeded Badger or 11th-seeded Columbiana in a district semifinal at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
