EOAC is on United’s mind
HANOVERTON — United’s baseball team injected a little excitement into the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference race by besting Columbiana 4-1 on a cold Wednesday afternoon.

“We did not see it coming but we wll take it,” United coach Bob Manfull said. “Columbiana is still a great team, but we just managed to have a good game. That’s the kind of league it is this year. Anyone can beat anyone on a given day.”
The Eagles have two games with East Palestine and one game with Wellsville left outside of the Columbiana contest. That Columbiana game will be completed on Tuesday at Firestone Park.
Grant Knight led the Eagles with two hits and three runs against the Clippers. Trent Newburn added two RBIs. Andrew Winn and Tyler Dickens had a hit and RBI each.
Nevin Hahlen went the distance and struck out eight.
