CALCUTTA — Beaver Local’s wrestling team ended up where it had many times before on Saturday at the 45th annual Everett Hoppel Memorial Wrestling Tournament at Beaver Local High School.

The host Beavers edged out second-place Austintown Fitch by five points to take top honors at the tournament.

Oak Glen was third with 203 points.

The Beavers secured three individual champions as Robert Buchheit (126 pounds), Gabe Morgan (175) and Zane McCoy (285) clawed out wins in their respective weight classes. Kaydon Bobby (138) and Ryan Chafins (157) were second for the Beavers.

Oak Glen did particularly well in finals matches with Logan Davis (113), Hayden Lamb (132) and Michael Heath (157) winning individual titles.

Braxton Dlugopolski was second at 165 for the Golden Bears.

Southern Local was led by Aiden Spahlinger’s second-place showing at 132.

Beaver Local is set to take part in a dual on Tuesday at Canfield.

Oak Glen will take part in the regional quad on Thursday at Fairmont Senior High School.

ATWATER — South Range won the team title on Saturday at the Div. III Classic at

Waterloo High School.

Winners for the Raiders included Hunter Newell (106 pounds), Kayden Walker (113), Tyson Seesholtz (150) and Chris Colucci (215).

Finishing second for the Raiders was Jacob Richardson (144) and Jake Starkey (165).

Wellsville’s Mason Simms finished second at 106.

Crestview’s Braeden Stalworth won at 144, while A.J. Coppersmith was second at 157.

United’s Dallas McCracken was second at 285.
